Payment statistics
These statistics cover important aspects of payment transactions in EU countries. They are compiled at EU and euro area levels, and individually for each EU country.
Information is available on the usage of different payment services and instruments, and on payments processed by the main payment and settlement systems. Data on the general economic situation in each country are available for comparison.
The statistics also cover securities clearing and settlement for the different types of pre- and post-trade infrastructures and systems.
Payment statistics provide information on the number and value of payment transactions for each type of payment instrument and service in Europe. They can be used to identify trends in payments and are essential in helping ECB policymakers take well-informed decisions.
In addition, statistics on securities clearing and settlement can be used for structural analysis, oversight and research purposes.
Traffic settled in the TARGET Services
Monthly statistics of traffic settled in the TARGET Services, which are owned and operated by the Eurosystem and currently comprise T2, T2S and TIPS. The T2 service comprises the Central Liquidity Management (CLM) service and the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) service.
