Summer research graduate programme

This programme is aimed at highly promising PhD students in their second or third year of studies in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics or related fields.

About the programme

Research graduates will have the opportunity to visit Directorate General Research (DG/R) for three months during the summer and participate in the daily work of the directorate.

Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply in order to enhance the diversity of the workforce at the ECB.

In particular, the participants in this programme are expected to contribute to the work of the directorate as follows:

  • conduct research on a proposed topic of relevance for the ECB, under the supervision of a senior economist of the Directorate;
  • present results from this research in a seminar at the end of the stay;
  • interact with economists of DG Research and of other ECB business areas;
  • familiarize with the working environment of DG Research, and more generally with the organisation and policy challenges of the ECB.
