Publication of a review of the foreign exchange market structure
In the context of the regular monitoring activities of the European System of Central Banks, experts from the European Central Bank (ECB) and the national central banks of the European Union have carried out an analysis of the structure of the foreign exchange market drawing on two main sources:
- the latest (i.e. April 2001) triennial survey of foreign exchange and derivatives markets conducted by the Bank for International Settlements; and
- information collected through interviews with a wide range of market participants.
This "Review of the foreign exchange market structure" has been published today and follows similar studies carried out previously on other markets, such as the euro money market.
It can be downloaded from the Publications section of the ECB's website. Printed copies are also available free of charge in writing from the ECB's Press and Information Division (fax: +49 69 1344 7404 or e-mail: info@ecb.int).
