The European Central Bank and the Banca d'Italia are jointly organising the 2024 China Expert Network Workshop entitled “China and the global economy” which will be held on the premises of the Banca d'Italia on Monday, 25 March 2024.
This one-day workshop aims to bring together experts on China from policy organisations and academia to share views and analyses regarding the outlook for the Chinese economy in the context of current domestic and global developments. It will feature a panel discussion and three paper sessions. Moreover, it will feature a keynote speech delivered by Prof. Wei Xiong from Princeton University.
Call for papers
Submission deadline: Wednesday, 31 January 2024
We welcome contributions on topics related – but not limited – to the following themes:
- Real estate crisis
- Long-term growth prospects
- Financial integration
- Renminbi internationalisation
- Spillover of China’s slowdown to the global economy
- China’s footprint in the global commodity markets
- Energy transition and energy security
- China and the EU trade and investment relations

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, 31 January 2024. The authors of accepted papers will be notified by Wednesday, 14 February 2024.
The travel expenses of speakers and attendees will be borne by the participants themselves.
