Construction of the basement levels

The concreting of the last section of the foundation plate in November 2010 marked the completion of the first phase of the construction works for the double office tower. In order to ensure that the load-bearing requirements of the foundation plate were met, the concreting work had to be carried out without interruption. This sometimes meant working into the night. more

Restoration works on the wing buildings of the Grossmarkthalle

Alongside the foundation works in the Grossmarkthalle, work is under way to restore the external facades of the wing buildings. more

Next steps

By the end of 2011 the structural works for the double office tower will have been completed up to the tenth floor of a total of 45 (for the north tower) and 43 (for the south tower). The facade works will then be launched and carried out alongside the ongoing structural works. The first of the atrium’s steel trusses is due to be mounted at the beginning of 2012. These trusses, as well as the connecting platforms, will create a single static structure out of the two towers. more

Decision on the design for the memorial at the Grossmarkthalle

The memorial commemorating the deportation of over 10,000 members of Frankfurt’s Jewish population will take the form of a long ramp descending gradually towards the basement of the Grossmarkthalle. more
