Trade in goods
-
Background
The breakdown by product group (intermediate, capital, consumption) is in line with the classification by
Broad Economic Categories and corresponds to the basic classes of goods in the System of National Accounts. The breakdown for manufactured goods and oil is in line with the
Standard International Trade Classification Rev. 4 definition. The geographical breakdown shows main trading partners individually or in regional groups.
Owing to differences
in definitions, classification, coverage and time of recording, external trade data, in
particular for imports, are not fully comparable with the goods item in the balance of payments
statistics. Part of the difference arises from the inclusion of insurance and freight services in
the recording of goods imported in external trade data.
