PRESS RELEASE

Publication of the proceedings of the first ECB Central Banking Conference "Why price stability?"

28 June 2001

Frankfurt am Main, 28 June 2001

In November 2000 the European Central Bank (ECB) organised the first ECB Central Banking Conference. The ECB will be organising such a central banking conference every two years. They will have high-level attendance from central banks, international and European institutions, academics, as well as members of the financial press.

The topic of the first ECB Central Banking Conference was: "Why Price Stability?". The ECB publishes the proceedings of each conference, with the aim of contributing to the economics literature through the release of original research. We have made available on our website, in volume form, the final versions of papers and comments, a summary of the discussion and an introduction by the editors.
