11th ECB Conference on Forecasting Techniques — Avenues for the next 20 years

The event has been postponed to 15 and 16 June 2021. A new call for papers will be ciruclated this fall.

The 11th ECB Conference on Forecasting Techniques will take place on 8 and 9 June 2020 in Frankfurt am Main.

This biennial conference provides a forum for new theoretical and applied work on forecasting. In the context of the upcoming conference, the ECB is organising a paper competition for PhD students in order to encourage research in the area of macroeconomic forecasting and to support students working in this field.

Who is eligible to participate?

Students of economics, econometrics, statistics or a related field who have a research interest in forecasting.

Candidates should be nationals of a member state of the European Union and enrolled in a PhD or master’s programme. Students who are currently employed by the ECB are ineligible, as are papers with an ECB co-author.

What can I win?

Competition winners will be invited to present their papers at the poster session of the 11th ECB Conference on Forecasting Techniques, and to attend all conference sessions. The ECB will cover competition winners’ travel and accommodation expenses in relation to the conference, up to a maximum of €2500 for intercontinental travel and a maximum of €1000 otherwise.

How will winners be selected?

Winners will be selected on the basis of their papers’ quality and its relevance to the theme of the conference.

How can I apply?

Please send your paper and CV (in PDF format) to conf-forecasting@ecb.europa.eu by 23 March 2020, indicating in the subject line of your email that your paper is a “submission for PhD student paper competition CFT11”. Winners will be notified by 3 April 2020.
