Tito Boeri

Tito Boeri is an Italian citizen and is President of the Italian social security administration (INPS). He is on leave from his positions as Professor of Economics at Bocconi University in Milan (where he was also Dean for Research until autumn 2014) and Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics (LSE). He has been Scientific Director of the Fondazione Rodolfo Debenedetti (www.frdb.org) since its inception. He is research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, the Centre for Economic Performance at LSE, the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), the Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement, and the Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research at the University of Bocconi.

His fields of research are labour economics, redistributive policies and political economics. He has published papers in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Perspectives, the Journal of the European Economic Association, Economic Policy, the European Economic Review, the Journal of Labour Economics, and the NBER Macroeconomics Annual. He has published books with the Oxford University Press, MIT Press and Princeton University Press.

After obtaining his PhD in Economics from New York University, he was a Senior Economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development from 1987 to 1996. He has also worked as a consultant to the European Commission, International Monetary Fund, International Labour Organization, World Bank and the Italian government. He founded the economic policy watchdog website, www.lavoce.info, sits on the editorial board of www.voxeu.org and is the Scientific Director of the Festival of Economics in Trento.
