Girls' IT Bootcamp
All of the spots for this year's Girls' IT Bootcamp are now full, and we have therefore had to close applications. We thank you for your interest, and hope to see you next year!
Are you a girl aged 9-17 interested in robots and computers? Then our three-day IT bootcamp may be just the thing for you.
Join us to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics – or STEM for short. At our IT bootcamp you will program LEGO robots and learn JavaScript, discovering some of the many possibilities that the world of coding has to offer. You will also be invited on a tour of the ECB’s building, take part in experiments in our Banknotes lab and visit the “ECbees” in our urban garden.
Ready to code?
What is STEM?
STEM refers to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. They are becoming more important in today’s job market, with growing demand for specialists in these fields. Greater participation of girls and women in these subject areas is extremely important.
Who?
Our IT bootcamp is open to 20 girls aged 9-17 who are inspired by scientific discovery and technological progress.
When and where?
The IT bootcamp will take place from 31 May 2022 to 2 June 2022. The three-day programme of events will take place at the ECB’s premises in Frankfurt, Germany. You will try your hand at programming and coding in a relaxed, girl-friendly learning environment, and will visit our office areas, Banknotes lab and urban garden.
Why?
A large gender gap still exists in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through initiatives like this IT bootcamp, we hope to inspire more girls to explore the study opportunities in STEM at an early age, and to go on to work in one of these fields. Who knows, maybe you will be working at the ECB one day…
