In principle, SEPA offers similar advantages to the public sector as to private companies.
The public sector in the euro area creates around 15-20 % of all credit transfers. Moving the volume of payments made by public administrations to SEPA instruments would contribute significantly to creating a critical mass. It is an opportunity to modernise payment applications.
