Euro area payment networks: state of play, market evolution and development plans

A presentation by three retail payment networks regarding the implementation of STP standards, access criteria, end-to-end payment times, pricing policy and the MIF initiative.
The speakers will also address development plans for future enhancements and the likely evolution of the individual systems.

A global ACH interlinking model versus a single ACH for the euro area

Two different ACH models will be described and the advantages and disadvantages of a single ACH versus ACH links will be highlighted. The pros and cons of limiting an ACH concept to one currency and the euro area in comparison with a wider approach will be discussed.
The presentations will also describe the implementation of STP standards, access criteria, pricing policy and end-to-end payment times.

The euro area: a business opportunity for national ACHs?

Two national ACH organisations will present their views on the changing business environment stemming from the introduction of the euro for ACHs, which have traditionally been operating in a purely domestic context. What are the risks and opportunities for ACHs? What are the prospects for developing ACH links versus one big ACH? To what extent will ACHs be ready to process all kinds of euro payments (domestic as well as cross-border)? In addition, the speakers will also explain where their ACH stands with regard to access criteria, end-to-end payment times and implementation of international standards. Finally, they will elaborate on the potential for ACHs to contribute to reducing interbank prices of cross-border payments to a level closer to that of present domestic transfers.
