On 1 January 2011 Estonia will join the euro area and the euro will replace the kroon as legal tender. To mark this occasion, the government of the Republic of Estonia and Eesti Pank, in collaboration with the European Commission and the European Central Bank, will host the "Euro Conference Tallinn 2010" on 20 September 2010 at the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn, Estonia.
The invited speakers are Andrus Ansip, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia; Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank; and Olli Rehn, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs. The conference will be chaired by Märten Ross, Deputy Governor of Eesti Pank, and Peter Mooslechner, Director of the Economic Analysis and Research Department at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. The discussion panel will also include Jürgen Ligi, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Estonia; Erkki Liikanen, Governor of Suomen Pankki – Finlands Bank; Anne-Marie Gulde-Wolf, Senior Advisor in the European Department at the International Monetary Fund; and Marek Belka, President of Narodowy Bank Polski.
