What I particularly like about my work at the ECB

I joined the ECB more than ten years ago as a trainee in the Statistics department. Six months later, I moved to the Market Operations department, initially working as a Research Analyst, later becoming a Market Operations Expert and then Principal Expert.

Working at the ECB is a unique experience – not only because of the people you meet with various backgrounds, but also because of all the different challenges you have to overcome. You are truly at the centre of European issues here, so you are closely connected to the world and to other European institutions.

How my work makes a difference

Working at the ECB over the past years has been a unique experience. Monetary policy has changed so much in recent years and its impact on the financial markets has been fascinating to observe. My tasks also involve working closely with the central banks within the EU and outside Europe on financial market issues, and helping to implement measures to address the financial crisis. My work is never routine, and I learn something new every day.

The people here are very competent and work truly as a part of a team. Our open-plan office makes for good communication, so we regularly have discussions on a wide variety of topics.

What I like about Frankfurt

Frankfurt offers the benefits of a large city with many cultural events but is still relatively small and easy to get around by public transport or by bike.

With my colleagues, we have good relationships outside work too and have taken part in various sports and charity events. It is a great experience to work with people with a wide range of interests like music, dance and photography just to name a few.
